This is the least expensive variant of the handheld signal. This distress signal is intended for use in the mountains, on land and in the air. The prices are lower because waterproofness is not important for these situations. The brightness and brightly colored glow of the “hand hoist” makes it visible from thousands of feet away at day and night.
The hand flares we sell consist of a tube filled with a pyrotechnic sas. This sas contains metal powders that cause the flare to burn for about 60 seconds with a luminosity of 13,000 candela.
Hand smoke signals
Hand smoke signals are the lightweight variety among smoke signals. These hand-held rod-shaped smoke signals are intended for use on land and in the air. This type of smoke signal burns for +/- 60 seconds and emits a clear color of smoke. The rod-shaped signals are suitable to hold in the hand. Various colors (red, white, yellow, green, blue, purple, orange or black) smoke signals make you visible and easy to find in any situation!
Our hand smoke signals have a smoke output of about 800 sq. ft.
Land smoke signals
The land smoke signals have a burn time of 60, 120 or 180 seconds, emitting a larger amount of smoke than the hand smoke signals. Due to its small size, this variant is ideal for carrying in your backpack or pack on hikes and climbs. The thick smoke clouds in various colors ensure that you are always optimally visible in case of emergency.
Depending on the situation you are in, the land smoke signals have a smoke production of 900 m², 1100 m² and 1500 m².
SOLAS Hand hoist signals
SOLAS hand hoist signals are the maritime counterpart to standard hand hoist signals. Due to a more intensive development method combined with strict regulations, SOLAS distress signals are suitable for all types of conditions! This durable production also makes this type of hand hoist signals more expensive than standard hand hoist signals. The distinctive “plop” when ignited signals that the hand hoist is burning through its waterproof “shield.
