Returns & Warranty

Since mid-2013, more and more people in Europe are becoming aware of increased visibility in dangerous situations. That is exactly what we are doing it for, and as far as we are concerned that is a very good thing! Unfortunately, we also have to note that there are many uncertainties about this “new” product on the European market. More and more we receive questions about products, how it works, what is and what is not allowed and, for example, what conditions and guarantees are given. A distress signal is not a standard product and therefore not subject to standard rules. We have already included sections on this in our general terms and conditions on behalf of various government agencies. Under the following headings we expressly provide additional information about the type of warranty we provide and when you can and cannot claim it:

Returning

At Fakkels.com we have a very lenient return policy. If your ordered products are unopened, unused and undamaged, you can exchange or return them within 30 days. You can contact us via the contact form on this page. Please indicate that it concerns a return of unused products. Naturally we would like to receive a further description of why you want to return these products. If your return claim is admissible, we will contact you for the processing. In the following cases a return will unfortunately not be declared admissible:

1: A return is inadmissible if there is a large quantity of products to be returned. Due to legal provisions, it is impossible to stock a large quantity of distress signals. Therefore, taking back a large quantity is unfortunately not possible.

2: A return is also not possible if part of the original order has been used. An order can only be returned in its entirety.

Fakkels.com will always declare a warranty claim inadmissible in the following situations:

  • Emergency signals are not stored properly (in a dry compartmentalized area).
  • The consumer did not read through the manual and yet attempted to ignite the product without delving into the instructions for use.
  • The distress signals are damaged or incomplete.
  • The emergency signals in question have been used improperly. In this case there is a violation of the fireworks law and any warranty and liability is voided.
  • The products have been used in other ways anyway.

ADMINISTRATION & HANDLING FEES: Emergency signals are not ‘normal’ products, special legislation applies to companies. Because of this, we unfortunately have to charge administration and handling fees of €10 for any return. This will be deducted from the total amount when handling the return.

INDEPENDENT USE: Emergency signals are intended for emergency situations only. This is also clearly stated at the time of sale. The warranty will be voided in full if the products have nevertheless been used for other purposes.

Production series with problems:

The following is a checklist containing serial numbers from production series where it is known that there may be problems with ignition. Don’t worry, the product is just safe; however, there is a chance that the product may not ignite at all. Is your series not listed? If so, there is no known production error.
  • NL190112S1
  • NL160404S3

Warranty

Fakkels.com supplies high quality emergency signals from approved manufacturers with the appropriate seals of approval. Unfortunately, as mentioned before, distress flares are not a standard product, standard warranty is therefore logically not applicable. Emergency signals are basically covered by the European Fireworks Act and are therefore made with high safety margins. These safety margins can cause a product to not work properly for your liking. Manufacturer tests show that if the product handling has been correct there is only a 0.1% margin of error. We report productions with known errors in them at the bottom of this page.

Although a distress signal may be purchased year-round by any European and all distress signals come with the mandatory manual, that does not mean that this automatically makes product handling easy! Properly igniting a distress signal is subject to many factors, including.

  • Emergency signal storage
  • Following the manual(s)
  • Experience in the use of emergency signals
  • In what way the friction primers are activated

Of course, we are then happy to provide information on how to use the product. Read more about product handling here. Products that have not been treated according to the instructions are obviously not eligible for warranty.
